Activ8 offers individual and small group therapeutic support for young people ages 14 – 22 across the Northern Rivers, NSW region.
Activ8 sessions are delivered by a team of mental health professionals and youth workers, and consist of both one-on-one sessions, as well as small group day activities. We use a unique combination of Psychologists, Youth Workers and volunteer Therapeutic Mentors to provide accessible and trauma-informed therapy for young people. As with all Human Nature programs, we utilise nature as an important co-therapist wherever possible in delivering our Activ8 program, recognising the intrinsic therapeutic benefits of time spent outdoors.
There are several referral pathways into Activ8:
- Young people completing a Recre8 expedition will be offered the option of Activ8 for follow up support;
- Young people referred to Recre8 who, for a range of reasons, cannot attend the Recre8 program at that time can be offered the opportunity to engage in our Activ8 program;
- Young people who are engaged in the Elev8 program and require additional support;
- Young people directly referred to the Activ8 program from a wide range of referral sources including self referrals, parent/carer/ family member, support services (e.g. case workers, social workers), Out of Home Care agencies, mental health services (e.g. headspace), and school staff.
Therapeutic support is provided on a needs basis – either fortnightly or monthly for up to 12 months. The focus is on personalised, flexible, systemic and long term outreach care.
