RECRE8 for Young Women
This is an exciting and transformative adventure for young women. Offering the chance to experience an incredible wilderness adventure hiking around Moreton Island, and sailing through Moreton Bay and Stradbroke Islands, the young women learn to sail traditional wooden boats alongside dugongs, whales, turtles and dolphins, camp on remote beaches, stargaze and storytell by the fire, and share great times with new friends. Activities include: camping, canoeing, bush walking, sea kayaking, swimming, snorkelling and sailing. The program team facilitate with individual and group counselling during the expedition, and each young woman receives two months of one-to-one counselling and mentoring once the expedition is over. The group celebrate their experiences with a 2-day rainforest reunion retreat based in Wilson’s Creek, northern NSW.
Criteria: young women aged between 14-19 years old and residents of the Northern Rivers region or Southern Queensland.
Our next Recre8 for Young Women will be in 2019, dates to be scheduled.

“I was inspired by everyone to start standing up for myself more”
“I think about it all the time… when something is really hard, I think back to something I did on the program and how it challenged me and then it gives me an awesome feeling…. I did it and it felt great, I can do anything”
“It’s given me a whole lot of self-confidence. Everything has boosted up in me a lot, like being able to socialise with new people”
“I gained so much courage to help me with my social life, life problems, school and my Dad”
What parents and supporters of our Recre8 young women say
“This program has and continues to enable our daughter to blaze her own trail towards a bright and exciting future. Your act of support will be life changing”,
“J doesn’t run away from life or problems anymore; she accepts her mistakes and moves on maturely. You don’t know what a difference this is”
“M has gained stronger communication skills and confidence and her anxieties have decreased”
“J returned from the program with strength to say no to things not good for her, to talk to anyone, have courage to live the life she wishes to live, to decrease her anxieties and to be inspired”
“T gained confidence and happiness and the knowledge that she can do what is needed to achieve what she wants in her life. In the previous 2-3 years, she could not leave the home or leave her family, so for her to be able to go way on this expedition and come back with a big smile on her face and excited about the stories she had to tell was excellent”.
